About Capiz shells:

These are made of the outer layer of a marine mollusk, whose scientific name is placuna placenta, also called the window-oyster. The Capiz shells from the Philippines are called so because they originally were caught in the shallow coastal waters near the city of Capiz, Philippines. Once properly cleaned these shells are naturally transparent, and if they show they are painted with a light in it a very beautiful coloring game.
